About Zephyrhills

Zephyrhills is a city in eastern Pasco County, in the Tampa Bay region, known for the rolling terrain that gave it its name. US 301 (Gall Boulevard) is the main north-south road through the city. SR 54 is the main east-west route across southern Pasco County and runs to US 301 in Zephyrhills, and SR 56 runs between SR 54 and US 301 south of the city.

The settlement began as the town of Abbott in 1888. In 1909, Captain Howard B. Jeffries, a Union Civil War veteran, bought land and formed the Zephyrhills Colony Company, advertising nationwide to found a settlement for Union Civil War veterans. The town took the name Zephyrhills in 1910 and was incorporated as a city in 1914. The Zephyrhills Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the city holds a Founders Day celebration each March.

Zephyrhills Municipal Airport served as a U.S. Army Air Forces training field during World War II and is now known for skydiving, with Skydive City operating a drop zone on the airport grounds. Zephyrhills is also home to the Zephyrhills bottled water brand, which draws from Crystal Springs near the city. The restored 1927 Atlantic Coast Line depot houses a railroad and history museum.
